The Chinese zodiac is older than the race story usually told about it. Bamboo slips buried with a Qin official in the third century BC already list the animals against the twelve earthly branches — the Jade Emperor's river crossing was attached long afterwards, the way stories get attached to systems people inherit and no longer remember building.

Every pendant is solid 925 sterling silver with a natural stone: African opal for most of the twelve, Swiss blue topaz for the Snake, amethyst for the Rooster, garnet for the Dog. Made after you order it, up to twenty days.

Your animal is set by Chinese New Year rather than 1 January, so if you were born in January or the first half of February, check your birth year before you choose.
