The story
Worn for centuries by people who needed to see the situation as it was.
Nüwa is not a minor figure. She is the one who makes people out of yellow mud, and the one who patches the sky back together with melted stone after it cracks. On Han dynasty tomb tiles she is painted with a human head, human arms, and a serpent's body below.
Nobody drew that as horror. It was drawn as competence.
Which is worth remembering, because the snake in the twelve signs has spent a long time being handed other people's baggage — mostly imported, mostly not Chinese. In the cycle itself the snake is not treacherous. It is the animal that gets out of its own skin on a schedule and keeps going.

Si, the sixth earthly branch, is the double hour from nine until eleven in the morning. Late enough that the day has a shape. Early enough to change it.
The snake here is gold and coiled along a silver branch, and I left the branch pale on purpose so the two metals read as two different materials rather than one decorated one.
The opal sits above in a rayed gold mount. Opal has had a strange run in Europe — in 1829 Walter Scott published a novel in which a woman wearing one dies, and the market for opals across the continent is said to have collapsed on the strength of a plot device. It took decades to recover. A stone's reputation is not the same thing as a stone.
The metal is solid 925 sterling silver with gold plating on the snake, the grass and the mount. Plating is a surface finish and it wears with time; the silver beneath it does not.

The coil is the difficulty — it has to sit over and under the branch convincingly, which means the two are finished as one piece and cannot be corrected separately.

When would it get here?
It is posted to you directly from our maker, tracked and signed for — to the United Kingdom that is 5–10 days, usually within a week. The date in the buying panel above is the real latest date it should be with you; it moves forward every day and it is not a countdown put there to hurry you.
Is the silver solid, or is it plated?
Solid 925 sterling silver, all the way through. We never plate base metal and call it silver. This particular design carries a plated finish over that silver, which is why it looks the colour it looks. Plating is a surface and it wears; the silver under it does not.
Will my stone look exactly like the photograph?
No, and it should not. Topaz comes out of the ground, so colour, depth and inclusions differ from one to the next. The photographs show a real one, not a rendering — yours will be its own. If that difference would disappoint you, write to us before you order and we will tell you honestly how much variation this stone has.
How is it worn?
As it comes. The measurements are visible in the photographs above, and the piece is described on the page in the same words we would use in person.
What if I change my mind, or it does not fit?
Fourteen days from the day it arrives to tell us, and a further fourteen to post it back — that is the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and we do not try to write around it. Faulty or not as described is always our cost. The whole policy is here, in plain English.
Do you post to where I live?
The UK, the twenty-seven EU countries and Australia. To the UK the delivery is free on every order, tracked and signed for. Europe and Australia are free too, apart from the smallest bracelets, where a small tracked postage is shown at checkout, before you pay — never added afterwards. If your country is not on the list at checkout, we cannot post there yet, and we would rather say so than take your money and find out.
Do I have to do the ThetaHealing part?
No. It is a ring, and it is a good ring on its own. The feeling download is written out above so you can read it, use it, or ignore it — nothing is charged for it and nothing is done without your say-so. Some people buy the piece for the stone and never think about the rest, and that is a completely ordinary way to own it.
Is any of this medical?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. What you read here about stones is history and folklore, told as history and folklore with dates and sources. Less known
The wrong name
Pliny recorded a green stone from a Red Sea island called Topazios. The island produced peridot and never produced topaz. Everyone worked it out and nobody was willing to renumber Western mineralogy over it.

A colour younger than your parents
Sky blue topaz did not exist before about 1970. Colourless topaz — common and cheap — is irradiated and then heated. The stone is natural. The colour is ours, and permanent.
