The story
Pliny wrote that it held the fire of one stone, the purple of another and the green of a third, all at the same time.
Europe settled on the lion and then had to keep importing them to look at. China had the tiger at home, and drew it as royalty for so long that the animal ended up wearing the word.
Look at the markings on a tiger's forehead. Chinese artists have read them for centuries as the character wang — king. Four strokes, three horizontal and one down the middle. Painters stopped suggesting it and started drawing it outright, so that on a great many Chinese tigers the word is not a resemblance any more. It is written there.
The tiger also had a direction. In the four-creature scheme painted on Han tomb walls, the White Tiger holds the west, the autumn, the metal, the side the sun leaves from. Not the friendly quarter.
China's king of beasts was never the lion.
Yin, the third earthly branch, is the double hour from three until five in the morning. The hour before light. Traditionally the hour tigers were said to be most active, which is a polite way of saying the hour you did not go outside.
Everyone expects a tiger piece to be a tiger mid-roar. This one is asleep, curled under a flowering branch, with green stones scattered through the leaves.
That was the decision worth making. A sleeping tiger is still a tiger and it does not need to prove anything to you, which is closer to what the sign actually means than a snarl would have been.
The metal is solid 925 sterling silver. The gold is a plated finish over that silver and the dark sections are a black finish over the same silver — plating is a surface, it wears with time, the silver underneath does not.

The fur is cut in across the whole body rather than cast in, which is why it catches light in lines instead of patches.

When would it get here?
It is posted to you directly from our maker, tracked and signed for — to the United Kingdom that is 5–10 days, usually within a week. The date in the buying panel above is the real latest date it should be with you; it moves forward every day and it is not a countdown put there to hurry you.
Is the silver solid, or is it plated?
Solid 925 sterling silver, all the way through. We never plate base metal and call it silver. This particular design carries a plated finish over that silver, which is why it looks the colour it looks. Plating is a surface and it wears; the silver under it does not.
Will my stone look exactly like the photograph?
Closely. Opal is made or treated rather than pulled out of the ground, which means it is far more consistent piece to piece than a natural stone would be. We say which it is on this page rather than leaving you to guess.
How is it worn?
As it comes. The measurements are visible in the photographs above, and the piece is described on the page in the same words we would use in person.
What if I change my mind, or it does not fit?
Fourteen days from the day it arrives to tell us, and a further fourteen to post it back — that is the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and we do not try to write around it. Faulty or not as described is always our cost. The whole policy is here, in plain English.
Do you post to where I live?
The UK, the twenty-seven EU countries and Australia. To the UK the delivery is free on every order, tracked and signed for. Europe and Australia are free too, apart from the smallest bracelets, where a small tracked postage is shown at checkout, before you pay — never added afterwards. If your country is not on the list at checkout, we cannot post there yet, and we would rather say so than take your money and find out.
Do I have to do the ThetaHealing part?
No. It is a ring, and it is a good ring on its own. The feeling download is written out above so you can read it, use it, or ignore it — nothing is charged for it and nothing is done without your say-so. Some people buy the piece for the stone and never think about the rest, and that is a completely ordinary way to own it.
Is any of this medical?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. What you read here about stones is history and folklore, told as history and folklore with dates and sources.
