Year of the Rooster — Chinese Zodiac Necklace

It announces the day before you can see it.

You is the double hour of the early evening, when the light is going and the bird is still the one telling everyone what time it is. The rooster is the sign of saying the thing out loud first, before anybody has agreed with you.

The stone is different on this one

Eight of the twelve pendants carry African opal. The Rooster does not. It is set with natural amethyst — the stone worn for nine hundred years by people other people were relying on, and the colour of it is iron caught in quartz and then hit by natural radiation over millions of years. The colour is damage, held steady, and we find it beautiful.

Is this your sign?

The Rooster years are 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017 and 2029.

But the zodiac year begins at Chinese New Year, not on 1 January, and that date moves between 21 January and 20 February. A birthday in January or the first half of February usually belongs to the animal before. The box on the product page does that sum for you.

Your own zodiac year

Every twelfth year is your own animal's year again — běnmìngnián. Traditionally it is the year people wear their own sign. The next Rooster year is 2029.
