Labradorite

Grey until it isn't. Turn labradorite an inch and blue rises out of it — the flash was always in there, waiting for the right angle, which is why it became the stone of intuition, transformation and trusting what you already know.

The Inuit of Labrador said the northern lights were caught inside it. The effect has a name of its own, labradorescence: light bouncing between layers inside the stone rather than off its surface.
