Night Garden — Amethyst Botanical Jewellery Set
£319
Amethyst means “not drunken”. A-methystos. The Greeks cut wine cups from it and believed the stone would keep the drinker answerable.
For nine hundred years it was priced alongside ruby and emerald. Then in the eighteenth century enormous deposits were found in Brazil, the supply collapsed, and the price with it. Nothing about the stone changed — only how much of it there was.
Every piece here is set with natural amethyst in solid 925 sterling silver.
Or the colour, at entry price: the February Month in Colour necklace → — gold-plated solid silver with a purple baguette. That stone is cubic zirconia, not natural amethyst, and we say so on the page.
